Nancy Jones is a North Carolina native who has lived most of her life touring in support of her original music as a solo act and with her band. She is an award-winning singer/songwriter, pianist and guitarist with 14 albums to her credit ranging from Prog-rock to Folk. Her professional career started at the tender age of thirteen. By the time she was in her early 20's, she was headlining dates on the East Coast from New York to Florida.
In 1995, Jones left the East Coast for the opportunity to pursue her music in California. Winning awards such as "Best New Female Singer/Songwriter" in BAM Magazine (BayAreaMusic;San Francisco) in 1997, as well as placing in the "John Lennon International Songwriting Competition."(2000)
Jones has been honored with gracing stages from the 80's to the present as an opening act for such artists as Joan Osborne, Luther Vandross, Albert Collins, Bruce Cockburn, Keb Mo, David Gray, and Warren Haynes, to name a few.
With a broad brushstroke of influences, Jones' music is awash with overtones and undertones of blues, soul, folk, front-porch traditionals, gospel and southern rock as well as jazz and progressive rock. But don't be mistaken. Jones is categorically none of these things, but more the hot wax of them all.
Nancy’s teaching style revolves around three aspects; nurturing creativity, honoring the student's individuality as a growing musician, as well as the way and pace each student learns.
"My goal as a music instructor is to illuminate what is already there in the soul of the student. I see potential in everyone who comes to me with the desire to learn."
Nancy is thrilled to be a part of the "Joyful Family" and looks forward to making music a part of your life's journey.
